Every year, the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) is held to showcase the latest electronics we should expect in that year, which is why it’s held during January. We found out during E3 2011 that the Wii U will release in the second half of 2012, and we saw a few videos, but we want to know more.

Well, recent news states that the Wii U will be at CES, but there won’t be much new information about it. In fact, Nintendo won’t even have a booth. They will just have the Wii U there–so what do they plan to do with it?

Hopefully they will end up showing off some new games, maybe talk about the price a little. No matter what, though, we know to expect a boat-load of info during E3 2012, since the platform will launch sometime in November, if we go by gaming history.

    Price of the Wii U

With the year 2012 almost here, I’m starting to get antsy for the Wii U. What I am more worried about, though, is the price of the device.

We know the Wii U will be costly. The HD addition, plus the tablet-style Wii U controller, are bound to add at least $150 to the price of the Wii that we loved.

Well, we finally have an idea about the price. An Australian website posted their price for Wii U pre-orders at $598–that’s right: $600!

While it is a high amount compared to the original Wii price, is that really illogical compared to the first price of the PS3? Not really.

New features in the digital revolution will always cost an arm in a leg. That just means we won’t be buying the Wii U for a good year after it comes out, waiting for the price to drop.

But, we’ll see. Hopefully Microsoft drops the price.

BTW, Amazon still has not listed a price.
