Discount Nintendo 3DS: Price Cut!
Nintendo is making a move that is upsetting a lot of loyal fans: they’re cutting the price of the Nintendo 3DS.
The 3DS is a portable gaming device which uses glasses-free 3D gaming. It is adjustable, though, meaning it’s entirely optional how strong the 3D is or whether or not it is even on.
But the 3DS sales haven’t been as strong as expected, but maybe it was due to the price (although the first week of sales broke records for portable platforms). The 3DS started at
$249.99, which seems reasonable (heck, the PS Vita will start at $249.99 when it launches this year). But Nintendo lowered the price to $169.99. They are taking preorders on the 3DS for the August 12, 2011 release.
These new 3DS handhelds come in either black or blue, and is the exact same as the previous $250 Nintendo 3DS. At least Nintendo apologizes to the loyal fans that went out and bought the device when it was “new.” This price cut was way earlier than expected!

Nintendo has introduced a new way to play portable games with the 3DS: you get 3D effects, without the glasses! The depth slider lets you determine how much 3D you want to see, and you can also take 3D pictures with the two cameras attached. With SpotPass and StreetPass, there is a whole new level of social connection to a portable gaming device. Parental controls available to restrict 3D mode for children 6 and under.
