PreOrder Wii U
The world of video games was altered permanently when the Nintendo Wii launched on November 19, 2006. It was sold-out almost instantly, and
over the next few months, they sold at alarming high prices (3x retail) by individuals.
The Wii used motion technology in controllers that spoke to all demographics, reaching an audience larger than PlayStation and Xbox had yet to reach. Women, children, and even the elderly picked it up, allowing families to bond, friends to party, and bridged the gap from video gamers to social interaction.
The only downfall: it didn’t appeal to hardcore gamers, such as the ones who enjoy first-person shooters or complex RPGs. Those gamers stuck to the other gaming platforms, like the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360. With graphics that beat out the Wii and more high-tech controllers, the other consoles still had them beat for dedicated gamers.
But Nintendo realized their mistake with the Wii U. This time around, they are going to appeal to more of these dedicated gamers with graphics that beat PS3 and a Wii U controller that utilizes touch screen and controller buttons. It seems like they’re going to get it right, which means one thing: they’ll sell out.
The Wii U will release in 2012. It is expected after April, so it is probably safe to assume a November launch. If the predecessor is anything to judge by, it will sell out, so make sure to pre-order the Wii U before then. Right now, it is listed on Amazon, but is not yet available for purchase.
