Wii Fitness – Stretching
One of the most important things to do before you play a game of soccer or just work out is to do some stretching. People neglect the importance of stretching. We often think that it’s just some fancy way of showing off our lean muscles to onlookers. But actually, it isn’t. It’s nothing really fancy. And it’s nothing that someone should just shrug off. Stretching was actually invented. And there is a reason why it was thought up.
What does stretching actually do for us? Well, if you may not have heard already heard it, stretching keeps you free from the cramping terror that we get if we don’t stretch the muscles. The goal of stretching is to increase the elasticity of the muscles, allowing them to tone and endure the strain of the activity as well.
Stretching also improves flexibility. Flexibility is important as well in fitness. It will help improve posture while improving balance on a certain joint. It would also help reduce the risk of getting an injury from sports and other activities that you do every day. It would also help increase the blood supply of muscles and cartilages, increasing nutrient supply as well. This will reduce soreness in the muscle after strenuous activities or after training.
The innovation of the Wii Fit allows people who just don’t have the time and the money to spend on the boring, old gym to keep fit and stay fit. Nintendo has brought a very wonderful set of games that appeal not only to the gaming market that most males are all too familiar with but also to kids, those soccer moms and even our wise, old seniors. It offers a lot of exercises that would improve endurance and flexibility with a fun and enjoyable twist.
Stretching with the Wii Fit is one of the most enjoyable stretching exercises that you will perform. First, you wouldn’t need to feel ashamed since you are in the comfort of your living room. Second, you have the luxury of creating a virtual character that would represent yourself called the Mii. And third, your Mii does exactly what you do in real life. You also get virtual positive reinforcement and even virtual fans with the Wii. And the Wii Fit would also give you rewards like the fit credits that would allow you to unlock other exercises that would be a level up from the easy ones that you are starting off with.
You can stretch with the Chair exercise from Wii Fit. This will help you build up strength with your legs.
To do the chair exercise, stand with your feet parallel to your shoulders. Inhale and raise your arms forward. Keep your shoulders relaxed. Then slowly bend your knees while you keep your back straight. And hold this pose.
The Chair is one exercise that would help stretch the muscles in the legs. But there are more complete routines that you can do with the Wii. There would be exercises for endurance, strength training, weight loss and some yoga for relaxation. And all these are available at the comfort of your own home.
